Three students from Great Zimbabwe University’s Herbert Chitepo Law School, Blissful Dzimiri, Kudakwashe Muzenda and Ivy Madzivo on Thursday, 3 March 2016, left for Loyola University Chicago in the United States of America to participate in the International Mediation Tournament. The Tournament will be held at the Chicago Law School of Loyola University from 8-11 March 2016.
The three Bachelor of Law degree Part 2 students will travel under the patronage of the Dean of the Herbert Chitepo Law School, Mr Victor Nkiwane.
Every year the International Academy of Dispute Resolution sponsors an International Law School Mediation Tournament. Participation in these tournaments continues to increase every year, especially the participation of international schools. Law schools from Canada, Great Britain, and Germany regularly attend.
Africa will be participating at the tournament for the first time this year and will be represented by Great Zimbabwe University’s Herbert Chitepo Law School.
The tournament provides law students with the opportunity to learn about various forms and techniques used in mediation, as well as the opportunity to practice their mediation skills in friendly competition with other students from around the world.
Mr Nkiwane said the Mediation Competitions will be a good exposure for his students as students from 60 other countries from across the globe will be participating.
