BUSE: FACULTY OF SCIENCE INTRODUCES NEW PROGRAMMES

The Faculty of Science is pleased to announce the introduction of new programmes in line with the BUSE’s mandate and strategic plan to offer new science based programmes: These new programmes are listed below.

Programme Entry Requirements First Intake
BSc Honours Degree inn Optometry To be eligible for admission a candidate must have:
At least 5 ‘O’ Levels including Mathematics with a Grade “B” or better, Physical Science and English Language

Three passes at Advanced Level in Physics and any two of the following: Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology

August 2017
BSc Honours Degree in Information Systems with specialisations in software engineering and network engineering To be eligible for admission a candidate must have:
At least 5 ‘O’ Levels including Mathematics and English Language with a Grade C or better.
A pass in either ‘A’ Level Mathematics or Computer Science/Computing and any one of the following ‘A’ Level subjects Physics, Accounting, Economics, Management of Business/Business Studies, Biology, Chemistry or any other relevant subject, and
Candidates without ‘A’ Levels but are holders of the HEXCO National Diploma in Computer Studies or Information Technology or their equivalent may be considered.

MSc Physical Chemistry To be eligible for admission a candidate must have:

A pass in “A” level mathematics;
An Honours degree in the following areas of study: Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Chemical Engineering, or any other relevant degree with strong chemistry background, with degree class 2.2 or better.

Applicants without an Honours Degree or with passes lower than 2.2 may be considered for the programme if they have at least two years relevant experience or after passing an entrance examination.

MSc Applied Microbiology and Plant Pathology To be eligible for admission a candidate must have:

  1. BSc Honours Degree in any of the following disciplines: Biological Sciences, Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, Crop Science or any other relevant degree with at least a 2.2 grade or equivalent from this and other recognised institutions.
  2. Applicants without an Honours Degree or with passes lower than 2.2 may be considered for the programme if they have at least two years relevant experience.
